A lowly lemonade seller must contend with new competition and an angry boss in order to make a living.

Synopsis Sour Business (2019)

Guy, a lemonade seller, is reading a magazine at his stand. A customer approaches and tries to start a conversation with Guy. Guy says nothing back, and the customer pays for some lemonade. After an awkward remark about free samples, the customer leaves. Guy sees that the street is now totally empty, and decides to close up for the day. At a meeting with his boss, Lenny the Lemonade Man, Lenny has a heated debate with an unseen caller, and describes their being a "contract." Lenny hangs up and addresses Guy. Guy is then reprimanded for his lack of sales. Lenny then tells him his quota for the next day is two dollars, or four individual orders. The next day, the same customer appears, but instead chooses a new stand. Guy asks who he is via paper airplane, and receives the airplane back with a written threat. He calls Lenny, who is furious that Guy lost a customer. The two stands get no customers until 4:55, when a man with only enough money for one stand appears. The two businessmen enter a silent battle with paper airplanes, which results in Guy being defeated. The customer purchases from his competitor, and Guy leaves feeling sad. Guy returns to Lenny and finds him conversing with the operator of the competitor stand. Lenny reveals the two worked together to drum up business, and that Guy is now fired for being the lesser of the two stands. After Guy leaves, the competitor backs out of his contract because of Lenny's callousness. Guy and the competitor choose to join together to work for one stand. After a day with no customers, the two part ways.
